Udharbond Sports Association urges Silchar DSA to reconsider decision, writes to AOA

The Silchar District Sports Association recognised the old committee of Udharbond Sports Association (USA) as valid in the recent GB meeting. However, a new controversy has arisen over this decision. The new committee of the USA cannot accept the decision to legitimise the old committee. They have already written to the Silchar District Sports Association to reconsider their decision. They have also sent a letter to the Assam Olympic Organisation about the whole matter.

The dispute between the two sides regarding the title rights of Udharbond Sports Association has been going on for quite some time. One party claims that there has been no meeting of the USA for a long time nor any sports was organised. They believe that the committee of USA is working completely unethically. Also the representative of this committee is again representing USA in Silchar DSA which is totally illegal. Those who have been in the committee for a long time claim that they are the true representatives of the USA and the new party is invalid. However, despite making such a claim, the old committee of the USA failed to hand over any evidence to the Silchar District Sports Association. They could not even give their own proceedings. Meanwhile, the new committee’s statement was, “We are new, so it is natural that we don’t have anything in hand. We have taken this initiative to boost Udharbond sports which has been in a coma for a long time.” More than 40 clubs and organisations from Udharbond and surrounding areas supported them.

The Silchar District Sports Association also got into trouble in the fight between the two committees over the USA. However, since none of the parties could provide sufficient evidence on their behalf, the entire matter was kept on hold by the Bijendraprasad Singh-led committee. Despite many efforts, the dispute could not be resolved. Not even by discussing with both sides. There was nothing DSA could have done but put the matter on hold.

But the USA issue suddenly came up in the GB meeting held in December last year. A supervisory committee was also constituted to resolve the issue. The important thing is that the constitution of Silchar District Sports Association says that the organisation cannot interfere in the internal affairs of its club or organisations and it is totally illegal.

But Silchar District Sports Association did this illegal thing in the GB meeting. Just as the Assam Olympic Organisation intervened in the internal affairs of the Silchar DSA without regard to their constitution, the Silchar District Sports Association did the same illegal thing on the controversial issue of the USA. This is not the end, where the dispute could not be resolved even after discussing with the two sides of the USA, the supervisory committee gave its report without discussing with the two sides. And the report gave legitimacy to the old committee of the USA! After that, the report of the committee was given seal in the GB meeting recently.

Interestingly, the very first point of the report submitted by the supervisory committee states that DSA does not need to poke its nose into the internal affairs of another organisation. Should there be anything more written in the report? But this report has. In the second point, it is again said that the old committee of the USA is valid! Isn’t that funny? On what basis is the supervisory committee saying this? Or was the whole thing pre-planned! This supervisory committee was formed to legitimise the old USA committee. And the follow-up report has been submitted by the supervisory committee as per the plan.

By doing this, is DSA inviting trouble? And if this controversial issue goes to the court, how will DSA protect its face then?

Meanwhile, the new committee of the USA has appealed to the Silchar District Sports Association to reconsider their GB meeting decision. Nabarun Chakraborty, Vice-President of the new committee of USA said, “We have appealed to the Silchar District Sports Association to reconsider their decision. I have also written to the Assam Olympic Organisation about the whole matter. If Silchar District Sports Association does not reconsider their decision then we will be forced to take further action.”

It is noteworthy that recently when the USA issue was being discussed in GB meeting of DSA, the secretary of the Association Bijendraprasad Singh kept written notes of the proceedings of the meeting. He said DSA cannot interfere in the internal affairs of any club or organisation. The constitution does not recognise it. So he will not take responsibility if there is a legal trouble regarding it in the future. Still a decision was made in GB meeting over the USA controversy. As a result, the internal politics of the Association came to light. The Silchar District Sports Association poked it’s nose into the USA controversy for personal interests. It has caused the loss to the Association and profit of the individual.
