Unrest over ruling party's panel in DSA; Bijendra Prasad Singh's withdrawal causes chaos
As Bijendra Prasad Singh stepped down, the whole picture of Silchar District Sports Association’s upcoming BGM seems to have changed. The ruling group had to sweat over the creation of the panel. This time they have to look for qualified candidates for the post of secretary. Finding such a person overnight will be difficult for them.
According to sources, the ruling party held three meetings for the last three days to make the panel. But nothing worked. The ruling party has objections to multiple candidates. There has been a lot of conflict over this and everything happened infront of MLA Dipayan Chakraborty as per a source.
The ruling party does not want to keep many of the office-bearers of the current committee. These include treasurer Animesh Sengupta to Siddharth Shankar Bhattacharjee and Niranjan Das. But these three people have handled their responsibilities well in the last three and a half years. The ruling party wants to give a candidate as their replacement for bringing their own people into the organisation. So is that why Bijendra stepped aside? There is no end to the speculation in sports circles.
However, Bijendra clearly said yesterday that he has decided to step down due to personal and family reasons. He had been thinking about this for some time. Of course, he will be in the new work association as Secretary, but Bijendra did not say anything like that. He did not open his mouth infront of the media about BGM. He said something officially about it for the first time on Thursday. However, due to his decision, the calculation of the ruling party has gone wrong.
Now then who will stand up as the Secretary of the ruling group? It is learned that many efforts have been made to convince Subimal Dhar for the post of Secretary. But he did not agree. As a result, someone new is being searched. According to a source, Debashish Shome’s name came up for the post of Secretary in the meeting yesterday. However, this was a preliminary discussion and not finalised. As soon as this discussion came forward, there was a dispute. A source said that Chandan Sharma and Arijit Gupta have decided to step down from the posts of two Assistant Secretaries as soon as Debashish’s name came up for the post of Secretary. Maybe the ruling party will meet tomorrow.
The significant thing is that the ruling party is unable to finalise a panel even after conducting meetings one after another for so long. Even though the date of BGM is approaching, they can’t say anything with conviction.
