Warning! Life-Saving Medicine may Pose a threat to Your Little Child, Dead fly found in syrup
Life-saving medicine is intended to cure diseases, but recently, a decayed insect was found in a bottle of such medicine, highlighting a potential danger. This alarming incident occurred in the Lakhipur area of Cachar district, where a decayed insect was discovered in a bottle of fever medicine purchased for an 18-month-old child. Parents unaware of the danger decaying inside had administered one dose of that medicine to the baby, fortunately, the cautious father spotted the insect before it was too late and saved the baby from consuming the insect along with the syrup.
According to the doctor’s prescription, Jaydeep Das bought Pacimol MF 125, a fever medicine manufactured by Ipca Laboratories Ltd., from a local pharmacy in Lakhipur. The 18-month-old child who had a high fever needed that medicine for a cure. After purchasing the medicine, it was administered to the child once, unaware that a decayed insect was inside. The insect was discovered when the medicine was being administered a second time. This shocking discovery has left the child’s family in panic.
The father of the child recounted the incident saying, “When I poured the medicine on a spoon for administering a second dose to my 18-month-old child, I saw something black floating in the syrup. Upon closer inspection, it was a decaying fly-type insect. It was 3 o’clock in the night, and my child had a high fever. After this discovery, I didn’t administer that dose. The next day, when I went to the pharmacy and asked the owner, he said they received the products sealed and had no way to check what was inside”
“I had already administered one dose, and now I don’t know whether this is going to have any side effects on my child. Had I not observed it closely, I would have fed the medicine to my child, and the child would have consumed the decaying fly along with the medicine. This could have had dire consequences for my baby. Who would have been responsible for such a mishap?”, further added the father.
This incident underscores gross negligence on the part of the medicine manufacturing companies and this is a matter that needs investigation. Ipca Laboratories Limited is an Indian multinational pharmaceutical company based in Mumbai.
