Youth disappears while bathing in Barak river during Baruni Mela in Cachar's Katigorah

A tragic incident took place today in Baruni Mela held at Cachar’s Katigorah as a youth disappeared while taking bath in Barak river. The name of the youth is Pinak Das and he is a resident of Chengkuri Road, Silchar. He was deputed as an employee of a pan shop in Baruni Mela.

Pinak tried to bath in Barak river located near the Mela and mysteriously disappeared. The Police was informed of the incident. The SDRF alongwith Police have launched a search operation on Barak river but Pinak is yet to be traced.

Speaking to reporters the mother of the shop’s owner said, “He was an employee of my son’s pan shop. My son told him that he was going home and instructed Pinak to take care of the shop. After some time, Pinak told another person to look after the shop and went away for bathing in Barak river. That is when he disappeared while bathing.”
