‘Gharwapsi’ via Karimganj for 32 more Indians who were stuck in Bangladesh
Today, 32 Indians who were stuck in Bangladesh due to the lockdowns have returned back to their country. Under the “Bande Bharat Mission,” the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has arranged the return.
All of them returned to Karimganj via Sheola-Sutarkandi International Border. The officials at the border informed that with this lot of 32 inbound residents, the total will rise to 202.
“These are people from Nagaon, Hojai, Dhubri, Barpeta, Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi district,” informed the border official. He added, “There are four from Mizoram too.”
The respective district administrations have sent vehicles to pick up the inbound residents. “They will board their respective busses return to their districts after a preliminary health screening at the Indian side of the border,” informed the official.
He added that in case, the travel arrangement has not been done, the Karimganj District administration will place them at a facility quarantine centre.
Some of the 32-member-contingent got stuck as their visa expired while a few got infected by the virus. All of them have shared their joy after returning back to the native land.
