Cachar Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs. 2.82 Crore in Twin Anti-Narcotics Operations, Two Arrested

In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Cachar Police conducted two successful anti-narcotics operations on Saturday, leading to the seizure of suspected heroin worth approximately Rs. 2.82 crore in the black market and the arrest of two persons.

The first operation was carried out near Gastola Tiniali under the jurisdiction of Sonai Police Station. Acting on specific inputs regarding illegal transportation of narcotic substances, police intercepted and apprehended one individual identified as Riyaz Uddin Laskar.

During the search operation, officials recovered seven soap boxes containing suspected heroin from his possession. Upon weighing, the contraband was found to be 123.51 grams. Police also seized cash amounting to Rs. 40,000 from the accused.

In a separate operation, police personnel at the naka checking point of Lailapur Police Patrol Post intercepted a scooty bearing registration number AS 11Z 7991. During a thorough search of the vehicle, officers recovered 33 multi-coloured soap boxes containing suspected heroin concealed inside the under-seat storage compartment (dicky).

The contraband was seized from the possession of Jiyabur Rahman Laskar. The total weight of the suspected heroin recovered in the operation was found to be 441.09 grams.

Altogether, the two operations led to the seizure of 564.60 grams of suspected heroin with an estimated black market value of Rs. 2.82 crore. Two persons were arrested in connection with the cases.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to identify links to larger narcotics networks operating in the region.
