After Six Rounds: Aminul Haque Laskar leading in Sonai, Lakhipur’s Kaushik Rai inching towards victory

In Cachar, the early trends are producing a layered picture: BJP is showing strong leads in constituencies such as Lakhipur, Borkhola, Udharbond and Dholai, while Congress is making important advances in Silchar and Sonai. In Sonai, one of the most closely watched contests because former BJP MLA Aminul Haque Laskar is now contesting on a Congress ticket, he has polled 21,834 votes after the fourth round, ahead of AGP candidate Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, who has secured 13,213 votes. Aminul Haque Laskar is currently leading by 8,621 votes, making Sonai one of the key seats to track as counting progresses.
