Cachar applicants' fake documents in Police Recruitment; Dima Hasao Police arrests 5 including mastermind from Tarapur

Two Cachar residents went for the Physical Efficiency Test of 5AP BN Commando Recruitment Drive, Shontilla with fake documents. Both of them have been apprehended by Dima Hasao Police. Amit Karmakar, 24-year-old resident of Duarbond, and Suraj Karmakar – a 31-year-old resident of Kalain were arrested after they confessed their documents were fake and forged.

The Police launched an investigation to unearth the source of the fake documents. After interrogating the Karmakar duo, Dima Hasao Police identified three individuals who helped them source the fake documents.

Based on the inputs from the interrogation, Dima Hasao Police launched an operation in Cachar district and arrested 28-year-old Govinda Hazam from Dwarbond, Uttam Dey (36) from Kathal Road and Pradip Deb Roy (62) from Tarapur.

According to Police Sources, Pradip Deb Roy is a retired government official aware of the documents needed at the PET of a Police recruitment test. Sources informed that he is the mastermind of this entire scam.

After continuing the interrogation, the Dima Hasao Police arrested an LP School teacher identified as Nazim Uddin Choudhury. He is a 50-year-old resident of Udharbond area. The Police also arrested Sumit Mohali, 30-year-old resident of Kalain Tea Estate.

The arrests reveal that there is a nexus operating throughout the district of Cachar who are making fake qualifying documents and sending candidates to examinations held only for the shortlisted ones.
