Cachar Police seizes suspected heroin worth Rs 2crore, arrests two smugglers including a woman

Two smugglers, including a woman, were arrested with a large quantity of heroin in Cachar. A team of Cachar police seized about 500 grams of heroin in 33 soap boxes from a Wagon R car at Sonabarighat bypass located in Cachar district based on a tip-off. The Police also arrested two smugglers named Chinu Begum Laskar and Shahrukh Hussain Laskar. Both are residents of Rupaibali located in Lakshipur assembly constituency. The seized heroin is estimated to have a market value of around 2 crore rupees.

Speaking to reporters Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, “The market value of the seized narcotics is around 2 crore rupees. The operation is currently ongoing and we are also trying to nab the other culprits involved in the incident. The smugglers came from another state and were trying to sell the narcotics here. Based on a tip off, we conducted an operation and seized the huge amount of drugs.”

He added “Two smugglers named Chinu Begum Laskar and Shahrukh Hussain Laskar were arrested in connection with the incident. Both are residents of Rupaibali, Banskandi. They are currently in police custody and we are interrogating them.”
