Cachar School allegedly bombed by Mizo miscreants in 2020 is now Saihpui V Primary School of Mizoram

It is no more just about the land, Mizoram has now established a school inside the boundary of Assam. What used to be a government lower primary school under the Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan of Assam has now become a part of Mizoram’s Samagra Shiksha. This is the same school destroyed in the bomb blast last year by alleged miscreants from Mizoram. The name of the school changed and so did the students. Now Mizo children are being taught in this school. What used to be 990 No. Dhola Khal L P School is now Saihpui V Primary School of Mizoram. According to the school’s signboard, Siahpui V Primary School was established in 2003.

This school, Saihpui V Primary School used to be 990 No. Dhola Khal L P School in the adjacent area along the state border of Assam and Mizoram in Shewrathala GP. There were 35 students and 2 teachers in the school. The official record of this school maintains, “990 NO. DHOLA KHAL LPS was established in 1971 and it is managed by the Department of Education. It is located in Rural area. It is located in NARSINGPUR block of CACHAR district of Assam. The school consists of Grades from 1 to 5. The school is co-educational and it has an attached pre-primary section. The school is Not Applicable in nature and is not using school building as a shift-school. Bengali is the medium of instruction in this school. This school is approachable by all weather road. In this school academic session starts in April”.

Back in October 2020, the Dhola Khal L P School was bombarded by Mizo miscreants with the target to acquire the land of this school, which was within the boundary of Assam. 48 hours after the bomb blast in October 2020, senior police personnel of the Assam Police went to the spot to analyse the damages done and the threat to the lives of the locals in the area. Following the blast, the students stopped going to that school out of fear and shifted to another school to continue their education.

The new school set up by the Mizoram government shows it was established in 2003, whereas the Dhola Khal L P School was bombarded in 2020. About this, a resident of the bordering village said, “This school in Dhola Khal was established 60-65 years back and currently the name of the school is changed and is being operated by the Mizoram government. The school was destroyed in a bomb blast in October 2020 and since then, the Assam government-employed teachers, as well as the students who were enrolled in the school, are failing to access their school. Now the students of this school are bound to travel to a different school which is far away. Other than the Dhola Khal school, another school, Upper Painom L P School was also bombarded from the Mizoram side in November 2020. How come a school established by the Assam Government in 1971 has now become a school of the Mizoram state and how did they show the school was established in 2003?”

“This has now become a Mizo school and students from Mizoram study there. For many months the school has been shut. Now we have changed our school to a different village”, said a class 4 student, who formerly was a student of the Dhola Khal L P School.

The Department of School, Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education of the Government of India still shows the 990 No. Dhola Khal to be “operational”. According to the website of the ministry, the school lies in Dhakal Forest Village in NARSINGPUR block under SHEWRARTHALA cluster in the DHAKHAL FOREST VILLAGE of Cachar. In reality, this school doesn’t exist. What exists is just the building of the school, which is now being operated by Mizoram Samagra Shiksha.
