Dibakar Johri, Swarupam Purkayastha take India Club to APCC Semi-Final; "We are thrilled," says Himadri Das

India Club Silchar has made it to the semi-final of Assam Premier Club Cub organised by the Assam Cricket Association. The Silchar and South Assam Zonal Champions defeated Super Touch to make a berth in the Semi-Final.

Opting to bowl first, India Club’s disciplined bowling attack restricted Super Touch to 144/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Dibakar Johri stood out with exceptional figures of 3 for 24, well supported by Prashant Kumar and captain Parvez Musharraf who chipped in with crucial wickets.

Chasing the target, India Club got off to a flying start with Prashant Kumar and Parvez setting the tone. The batsmen displayed remarkable consistency, with contributions from every player. However, it was Swarupam Purkayastha’s aggressive knock of 33 runs off just 19 balls and Raihan Mazumdar’s explosive 20 off 16 balls that propelled India Club to victory.

With this win, India Club secures their spot in the semi final showdown against Cricket Club of Dibrugarh scheduled for May 5th 2024.

Himadri Shekar Das of India Club shared his reaction with Barak Bulletin, “We are very much happy and thrilled that India Club qualified in the APCC Semifinal for the first time, Players like Parvez Musharaf, Prashant Kumar, Dibakar Johri, Swarupam Purkayastha, Raihan Jomeel Mazudmdar, Amit Yadav have performed very well, and our batters are doing good throughout the tournament, but we need to improve our bowling and fielding department, hope we will play good cricket tomorrow and qualify for finals by the first team of Barak Valley and create history.”
