Hailakandi administration files FIR against an individual who traveled from COVID affected country and did not self-report
The Hailakandi district administration has filed an FIR at Hailakandi Sadar Police station under section 188 IPC against a person who arrived from abroad on Monday and did not report his arrival at the nearest police station or health centre. Departmental action for immediate suspension is also being drawn against the father who is a government employee for concealing information.
“We have taken action under 188 of IPC as the self-reporting was mandatory which they didn’t follow. The individual has been screened and so far he is asymptomatic. He has been put under quarantine,” Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Keerti Jalli said while speaking to Barak Bulletin.
The family members also misled the magistrate and police personnel by assuring them that he would arrive after three days which on further inquiry was found that he had already reached home. A COVID notice has been issued to their household for further prevention of spread and contact.
District Magistrate, Keerthi Jalli warned that any person coming from COVID-19 affected states and countries, not self-reporting immediately to the nearest police station or health center will be very severely dealt with and family members will also be equally liable for non-cooperating and misleading the administration.
It can be mentioned here that 721 people have been put under home quarantine in Hailakandi with 425 only on Tuesday. 115 surveillance teams are working in the field today.
