A huge cache of narcotic substances, weapons and cash was found inside a forest village of Cachar after a joint operation was carried out by Cachar Police and 38 Assam Rifles in Jurkhal Forest Village under Kachudaram Police Station on Sunday (April 19).

According to source information, during the search of a house in the Jurkhal village that is geographcically close to both Manupur and Mizoram border, the joint team of Cachar Police and Assam Rifles recovered 10,000 Yaba tablets weighing around 2.1 kg, two soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing 23 grams, one factory-made .32 pistol, one airgun fitted with a telescope, cash amounting to Rs. 14 lakh 90 thousand, and one mobile phone.

Police have apprehended one woman in connection with the case. Officials said she is a suspected peddler and a resident of Jurkhal Forest Village; her identity has not yet been disclosed.

Interrogation is currently underway, and efforts are being made to trace and arrest other co-accused persons. Investigation into the matter is continuing, said Cachar Police.
