Mutilated body of youth recovered from Hailakandi, police arrests elder brother

The decapitated body of a young man who had been missing for four days was found buried in a hole in the toilet of his own house. On Friday, Kalachhara outpost police and Lala police conducted a joint operation and recovered the decapitated body of Laxminarayan Rabidas from Kalachhara Grant and sent it for autopsy.

Police have arrested Laxminarayan’s elder brother Himachal Rabidas, 40, in connection with the gruesome murder. It is learned that although Laxminarayan has been missing since last Monday, his elder brother Himachal Rabidas did not report anything to the local police station. When the locals suspected the matter, the villagers informed the Kalachhara police outpost on Friday morning.

Outpost in-charge Vijay Goswami immediately arrested Himachal Rabidas and interrogated him. During the police interrogation, Himachal confessed to the murder of his unmarried younger brother Laxminarayan. Due to a family quarrel, he stabbed his younger brother Laxminarayan in the neck, killed him and buried him in the hole of the old toilet of the house, police said. The police then rushed to the spot, dug up the soil and recovered the decomposed body.

Police immediately arrested Himachal Rabidas on charges of murdering his younger brother. Vijay Goswami, in-charge of Kalachhara police outpost, said a murder case has been registered against Himachal Rabidas. He will be sent to jail on Saturday
