PM Narendra Modi announces lockdown extension till May 3

On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the coronavirus outbreak, and announced that the lockdown will be extended till May 3.

He also said that the nation will be under strict check till April 20, and post assessment,  if few areas are seen having no cases, some restrictions will be lifted. However, it will be under the complete guideline so that the virus doesn’t affect the residents.

PM Modi also touched upon the subject of daily wagers, and shared that the government will announce a new set of guidelines, and it will be in accordance so as to lessen the issue of labourers.

The PM started the address by saying, “Even when India did not have a single corona patient, India had begun screening passengers from #COVID19 affected countries: Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

He added, “Even before COVID19 cases touched 100, India made it compulsory for foreign returnees to remain in 14 days isolation. We imposed a 21-day lockdown when we had 550 cases.”

Narendra Modi hailed the country for supporting the lockdown, and requested them to follow the rules set by the administration. He also asked them for his support saying, “saath baaton mein aapka saath”

He said that extra care should be taken for the elderly people, and they should be protected from the virus. Adding that social distance should be followed strictly. The PM also asked people to download the Aarogya Setu app and work towards building a stronger immunity.

Modi also asked the country to help the poor, and that no one should sack their employees. Lastly, he mentioned about helping the frontline workers, who have been working towards freeing the country of the virus.
