Video featuring 11-year-old girl being tortured goes viral in Cachar; Police detains 4

A barbaric video featuring two men and a woman torturing a minor girl surfaced on social media earlier today. In the video, it is visible that a girl was held by her hair and tortured on the floor. While one man pulls her by her hair, another ties a rope to her leg. She begs for forgiveness, mercy, and cries for help. They continue with the assault while she weeps as masters used to do to slaves.

After the video surfaced, the father of the minor, 35-year-old Al Amin lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Outpost. According to the father, retired Block Development Officer, Moti Mazumdar and his family members assaulted his daughter. “Whenever my daughters or her friends walked in the area, Moti Mazumdar and his family members would force them to their house and ask to do various household work. Similarly, on Tuesday they did the same to my daughter. They tied her mouth tight with a piece of clothing. At 7:00 pm, I went to their house and got her home,” said Al Amin a resident of Sonabarighat Part II where the incident took place.

He added that his daughter, the 11-year-old started coughing blood when she came home. “Initially, she did not tell us anything, but later when we got the video and asked her, she said that Moti Mazumdar and his family members locked her inside the bathroom and started assaulting her,” added Al Amin.

35-year-old Al Amin has four children. After receiving his complaint, the Police detained Moti Mazumdar, Ataur Mazumdar, and one lady from the Mazumdar family who was visible in the video filmed. “We have detained them for interrogation. We have received the complaint and started investigating the matter,” said the officer in charge of Rangirkhari Police Outpost, Soumya Jyoti Das.

Meanwhile, Moti Mazumdar also lodged a complaint alleging that the minor girl was sent by her maternal uncle to rob the house. The Police detained the maternal uncle too. Speaking with Barak Bulletin, officer-in-charge, SJ Das said, “After we saw the video, we started investigating the matter. We detained everyone visible in the video and are interrogating them. We have also detained the uncle of the minor girl on the basis of the complaint lodged. Action will be taken based on the interrogation and investigation,” Das added
