A worker at Udharbond’s Ladi Steel Industry dies after a heavy iron structure falls on his head. As per available information, the 19-year-old worker Shubam Teli was on his shift when the structure fell on his head. The Thaligram resident had gone to the factor last night and was working along with other colleagues.

“At around 12:30 afternoon, I got a call from the manager of Ladi Steel Industry’s Udharbond unit and then we rushed to the spot,” said Officer In-charge Udharbond Police Station, Ashit Sutradhar. He added that the manager said they took him to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

“We spoke with people there and we are investigating the matter,” said Sutradhar. The dead body has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem informed the OC.

The manager of Ladi Steel Industry said that it was an accident that occurred earlier today in the factory. “At around 9:30 AM the accident occurred and our internal medical officials immediately attended the patient. We then rushed him to the local hospital where he was diagnosed brought dead. We have informed the family and will take care of the procedure to follow,” said the manager.

Locals in the area alleged foul play and said the accident occurred because the authority did not do proper maintenance. “He died at around 9:00 but the informed Police about it only in the afternoon, they wanted to suppress the incident but they could not. We demand a thorough investigation and the culprits must be punished. Human life is valuable and they authority running the industry must respect that and create a safe working atmosphere where people do not die,” said a senior citizen in the area.
