Scooty Ambulance in Silchar; “Can be a life-savior,” says Swarnali Choudhury
Silchar roads are more congested than ever before. The growth in the disposable income of the residents in Silchar has resulted in a steep growth in the sale of private vehicles. However, the size of the roads remained the same and the road-side markets and stalls have made it worse. During peak hours, it is almost impossible for an ambulance to ply freely and in such a scenario ‘scooty ambulance’ “Can be a life-savior,” believes Swarnali Choudhury, vice-chairman of Heart Care Society, Women’s Forum.
“As first responders, the scooters will reach the patient in no time with the necessary medication. This will help us buy some time and in critical cases that little time is the difference between life and death,” added Choudhury.
She shared that the Women Heart Care Society plans to have a fleet of scooty ambulance which can operate from several zones in Silchar. The society got its first vehicle in the fleet. Subhalaxmi Choudhury, director of North East Indian Company has donated a scooty ambulance to the society as a goodwill gesture. “We will go to MP Rajdeep Roy with the proposal of adding more scooters in the fleet. We need more in order to make an impact,” added Choudhury.
Heart Care Society, Women’s Forum has organised an awareness programme in Silchar where they are explaining the dos and don’ts during a cardiac arrest. “We have lost too many lives already, Shayantan, Bubhon and many more. In the awareness camp, doctors like PK Sharma, Ravi Kannan, Lakhan Das among others delivered their keynotes yesterday. Today there is general awareness camp in Goldighi Mall and I appeal to one and all to attend it as that can save a life in crisis,” said Swarnali Choudhury.
The scooter was donated during the awareness event yesterday in the presence of renowned doctors and other intellectuals of the valley.
