Fire breaks in Punjab National Bank's Deshabandhu Road Branch in Silchar

Worrying news coming in from Deshabandhu Road Silchar. Smoke coming out of Punjab National Bank’s Deshabandu Road branch and several engines of Fire Brigade have reached the spot.

As per available information, the locals saw smoke coming out of the bank at around 6:00 PM. It has been learned that the bank is shut and all its staffers have left for the day.

Our correspondent reporting from the spot said the flames could not be spotted from outside and therefore it is difficult to speculate where the fire broke. “Assam Police’s officials have vacated the road and the firemen went inside the building. It is too early to report anything beyond that,” said our correspondent who is currently on the spot.

Two engines of Fire Brigade have already reached the spot and the officials said they will call for more if needed.

Police officials informed that the fire has been doused and the source is suspected to be a short circuit. The officials confirmed that no major damage took place.
