
Loot in a Hanuman Temple; burglary in Barak Valley on the rise

Burglary cases in Barak Valley are on a all time high, after houses and office complexes now reports of loot is coming from a temple. Devotees of Lala area were shocked when they entered the Hanuman temple early in the morning.
Today is Tuesday and Hindus all around the world worship Hanuman and offer Prasad on Tuesdays, today when the devotees entered the Hanuman temple in Lala, they were shocked to see that the temple, vandalised. Lord Hanuman’s trishul was found lying on the ground, the donation box was broken and the cash in the box was missing.

The devotees immediately informed temple authorities, senior member of the temple organising committee Prakash Chanda Surana and others reached the temple and then informed Lala Police Station. According to sources the loot happened late at night when it was heavily raining. Lala Police is investigating the matter and is yet to arrest any suspect.

Another similar incident was reported recently, a set of people broke into the Maha Kali temple in HPC Township in Panchgram. There too the donation box was looted and the thieves even dared to steal the goddess’ ornaments. Not only temples, burglary in general is on the rise in the valley. Few days back in broad daylight a snatcher snatched five lakh rupees from a car in front of Red Cross hospital. On the eve of Ram Navami thieves broke into two houses in Ambicapatty and stole TV, Cash and jewellery, mobile phones. A week back from a three story building in Shivalik Park, Meherpur a Bajaj Pulsar was stolen.
These repeated incidents are creating a lot of havoc in resident’s mind and many are already insecure about leaving the house locked. The district administrations of each district and the state government should take steps to curtail such activities and ensure safety. For now be careful make sure you have locked your house well and taken all precautionary measures before leaving your house.
