PD with Samik Das and Rajdeep Das

Rajdeep Das, Former Ranji Trophy Cricketer, reminisced:

“My childhood cricket friend, a true legend of the game, has just retired from all forms of cricket, marking the end of an era. From our early days playing together on dusty fields to witnessing his rise to cricketing greatness, his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. His dedication, skill, and sportsmanship have not only earned him numerous accolades but also the respect and admiration of fans and peers alike. Beyond his impressive records and unforgettable performances, it is his unwavering friendship and humble nature that I cherish the most. As he steps into a new chapter, I am filled with pride and gratitude for having shared so many memorable moments with him both on and off the field.”

Pritam Das along with Samik Das and other in the early days of their cricketing career

Samik Das, Cricketer for Assam, shared his heartfelt memories:

“PD the Star. One of my most loved teammates. My first memory of playing with him was in 2003-04 representing Silchar Under-15 team in an inter-district tournament. Since then, we have been playing together in various age group and senior teams for both Silchar and Assam. We have countless memorable memories together. Being runners-up in the Vijay Hazare Tournament to winning the Senior Inter-District Tournament and countless other crunch matches. I have always enjoyed playing around him. He has always been a team man and a motivator for all.”

PD Celebrating Birthday

“I sometimes wonder how a guy with so much talent like him couldn’t achieve more in cricket. Being the highest wicket-taker in both the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments, it’s a pain not to see him feature more in zonal teams and even IPL. As a cricketer, he’s one of the very few cricketers in Assam to play in more than 50 List A games (Vijay Hazare Tournament) and T20 games (Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament). I wish him all the very best for his future endeavours and hope he shall always be connected with cricket throughout his life.”

Abhishek Thakuri, Current District Captain and Wicket Keeper Batter of Assam:

“He was like a senior who would always guide us. This will be missed on the field. However, I am positive we will always have his support off the field. Of course, it’s his career and like everyone’s career, his also came to an end. So I would like to wish him great luck for his future. But we know we will always have his support and guidance. He had contributed a lot which the people of Silchar are not unaware of. Of course, we all are a little bit upset. He had done a lot for DSA and won so many matches. His contribution is immense. On the field, he will be missed but, of course, we will always have him off the field.”

PD with Rahul Singh

Rahul Singh, Ranji Trophy Player, expressed his admiration:

“I loved playing with him. I have played with him since 2016 or 2017 and playing with him was a bliss. He had once scored 50+ runs and I still remember it, in some matches that became memorable. He used to love the game. I have no words to express. My favourite moments were the time I played with him in the Ranji Trophy. It was my first Ranji Trophy match and he had supported me a lot. His attitude was filled with positivity. He was always there to motivate me. When I didn’t get the chance to play for Ranji one time, he consoled me. He would always motivate us in the field.”

As Pritam Das steps into a new chapter, the cricketing community of Silchar stands united in their gratitude and admiration for a true legend who will forever be remembered both on and off the field.
